Dr. Irwin will assist in developing a customized regional version of the Crop Monitor, as a routine part of their quarterly Climate Outlook Forum, adding a crop monitoring dimension to their Greater Horn of Africa Bulletin. He works with EOFSAC partners to expand outreach and strengthen collaboration between other programs and SERVIR/USAID. Dr. Irwin focuses on capacity building in the use of EO. He works with SERVIR Hubs in East Africa, Nepal, West Africa, and Mekong regions.
Daniel Irwin is a research scientist at the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). Irwin heads a NASA program known as SERVIR. Using satellite technology, SERVIR helps officials in Central America, Mexico, the Caribbean and Africa understand and respond to natural disasters, combat environmental problems, improve agricultural practices and monitor air quality.
